History of Metal Heroes

Hey guys. Today, I am going over one more Tokusatsu franchise, Metal Heroes. So join me as we go over every single metallic savior there is in the History of Metal Heroes.

Uchuu Keiji Gavan (1982-1983)
This was the first of the Metal Heroes and the first of the Space Sheriff Series. The main star, Retsu Ichouji, is played by Kenji Ohba, who has played two previous Sentai heroes, Battle Kenya from Battle Fever J and Denji Blue from Denshi Sentai Denziman. Gavan was also the one who inspired the design for Robocop. The show ran for 44 episodes.

Uchuu Keiji Sharivan (1983-1984)
This was the second of the Metal Hero Series and the second of the Space Sheriff Series. The show ran for 51 episodes.

Uchuu Keiji Shaider (1984-1985)
This was the third of the Metal Hero Series and the third and last of the Space Sheriff Series. Shaider was used in Season 2 of VR Troopers. The show ran for 49 episodes.

Kyojuu Tokusou Juspion (1985-1986)
This was the fourth of the Metal Hero Series. The show ran for 46 episodes.

Jikuu Senshi Spielban (1986-1987)
This was the fifth of the Metal Hero Series. The main hero Spielban's actor, Hiroshi Watari, previously played in Uchuu Keiji Sharivan. The show itself was used in VR Troopers, along with Choujinki Metalder. The show ran for 44 episodes.

Choujinki Metalder (1987-1988)
This was the sixth of the Metal Hero Series. The main hero's design was inspired by Kikaider, one of the many tokusatsu heroes made by Shotaro Ishinomori himself.

The show itself was also used in Season 1 of VR Troopers along with Spielban. The show ran for 39 episodes.

Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya (1988-1989)
This was the seventh of the Metal Hero Series. The main hero himself wasn't actually made out of metal like the other Metal Heroes. The show ran for 50 episodes.

Kido Keiji Jiban (1989-1990)
This was the eighth of the Metal Hero Series. The show ran for 52 episodes.

Tokkei Winspector (1990-1991)
This was the ninth of the Metal Hero Series and the first of the Rescue Police Series. The show ran for 49 episodes.

Tokkyu Shirei Solbrain (1991-1992)
This was the tenth of the Metal Hero Series and the second of the Rescue Police Series (despite the fact that these guys aren't even police). This was a sequel to Winspector, mainly because the main hero of that show was in this show as well, but with a different suit of armor, Knight Fire.

Tokusou Exceedraft (1992-1993)
This was the eleventh of the Metal Hero Series and the third and last of the Rescue Police Series. The show ran for 49 episodes.

Tokusou Robo Janperson (1993-1994)
This was the twelfth of the Metal Hero Series. Janperson was used in an episode of Big Bad Beetleborgs. The show ran for 50 episodes.

Blue SWAT (1994-1995)
This was the thirteenth of the Metal Hero Series. The show ran for 51 episodes.

Juukou B-Fighter (1995-1996)
This was the fourteenth of the Metal Hero Series and the first of the B-Fighter Series. The show was adapted into Season 1 of Big Bad Beetleborgs. The show ran for 53 episodes.

B-Fighter Kabuto (1996-1997)
This was the fifteenth of the Metal Hero Series and the last of the B-Fighter Series. The show was adapted into Season 2 of Beetleborgs, Beetleborgs Metallix. The show ran for 50 episodes.

B-Robo Kabutack (1997-1998)
This was sixteenth of the Metal Hero Series. The show ran for 52 episodes.

Tetsuwan Tantei Robotack (1998-1999)
This was the seventeenth and the last of the Metal Hero Series. The show was a partial sequel to Kabutack. The show ran for 45 episodes.

There was a couple of reboots that came some years later. One of them was a reboot of Gavan, Uchuu Keiji Gavan The Movie, which featured a new hero, Gavan Type G

There was also two V-Cinemas released based off of Sharivan and Shaider, Uchuu Keiji Sharivan: The Next Generation and Uchuu Keiji Shaider: The Next Generation.

So, that was the History of Metal Heroes and now I am finished with this segment. Some other time I'll talk about other tokusatsu heroes, like Kikaider or Ryukendo or Gridman, but that´s for another day. So, until next time, Later.
