History of Other Kaiju Part 2: Other Toho Kaiju

RIP Haruo Nakajima (1929-2017)

Hey guys. I'm back. In Part 2, I will be going over the other kaiju that Toho made and that were in the Godzilla movies, like Mothra, Rodan, etc. So, let's dig in.

Half-Human (1955)
Half Human was a Daikaiju film produced after the success of the 1954 Godzilla film.

Rodan (1956)

Rodan was another Daikaiju film Toho produced after Godzilla Raids Again.

The Mysterians (1957)

The Mysterians was a film produced by Toho that featured a robot monster known as Moguera, which would later appear in Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla.

Varan the Unbelievable (1958)
Another film produced by Toho, Varan would later appear in Destroy All Monsters. I have no idea why they made this guy, because it's not like they already have a monster who can fly (It's Rodan).

Mothra (1961)

Before Godzilla vs King Kong was released, Toho produced a film that introduced one of their most famous monsters, Mothra. She would later appear in numerous Godzilla movies, starting with Mothra vs Godzilla (1964).

Frankenstein Conquers the World (1965)

This is also another movie produced by Toho. This movie featured a giant-sized Frankenstein and introduced another monster that would appear in Godzilla films, Baragon. It later gets itself a sequel, The War of the Gargantuas.

King Kong Escapes (1967)

I am deciding to talk about this King Kong movie, because 1) This is the only Japanese King Kong movie made by Toho, other than Godzilla vs King Kong, and the rest of the movies are American, and 2) This movie introduced Gorosaurus, who later appear in Destroy All Monsters, as well.

  

Rebirth of Mothra Trilogy (1996-1998)

After Godzilla's death in Godzilla vs Destoroyah, Mothra was focused on and was given a trilogy, best classified as the Rebirth trilogy. Each movie had it's own villain monster, Death Ghidorah in the first, Dagahra in the second, and King Ghidorah himself in the third.
